Nest Comes over to the EU

The Nest Learning Thermostat has already taken the US, Canada and the UK by storm, now it has been confirmed that it will be making an appearance in shops all over the EU. Since being released in the US two years ago, the Nest Thermostat has quickly established itself as one of the most sought after gadgets for the modern home. Giving its owners the power to accurately monitor their energy usage with the aim of significantly reducing their bills, the Nest Learning Thermostat is a desirable tool. Despite only being available to buy direct from the US, Canada and more recently the UK, the Nest Thermostat has managed to wind its way into being installed in 120 countries worldwide. Nest Thermostats have been shipped over by relatives, hidden in suitcases, and purchased on Ebay and Amazon by people who are desperate to make a Nest Learning Thermostat part of their home. Now the people of Belgium, France, Ireland and the Netherlands will be able to purchase the Nest Learning Thermostat from one of the 400 stores that are due to stock both the Nest Thermostat and the Nest Protect by the end of the month. The Nests that they purchase will even speak to them in the language of their home country, putting an end to Nest smuggling for the citizens of Europe once and for all! There has already been a huge demand for Nest products in Europe, in the UK alone an additional 100 stores have stocked the Nest Thermostat since April and the number of Nest installations have continued to grow at a shockingly fast...

Mercedes Benz is another product that can works well alongside, letting your Nest Thermostat know when you are driving home and enabling it to know the right moment to start heating your home. Nest are looking at all kinds of developers that could help make homes more aware, providing the tools that the developers need to make this a reality. Smart tech that can give you a smarter more effcient home

Smart technology for the home is undeniably cool and can give your home a sleek and ultra-modern feel, but the big question for consumers; does it save you any money when it comes to the household bills? Well these products believe they can. The Nest Learning Thermostat is a programmer, and thermostat in one. It learns your schedule to programme itself, turns down the heat when you’re away, and can be controlled from your mobile phone. It shows you how much heat you’ve used over the last 10 days, and sends an Energy Report every month to help you track and manage your energy use. With this kind of information readily at your fingertips the Nest Thermostat really could go a long way in saving you money, simply by allowing you to keep an eye on exactly what kind of energy you are using over a period of time. One of the key features in the most cutting-edge net-zero homes is actually something that has been on the smart tech radar for some time now, a digitised energy monitoring system. Whether you’re on the traditional power grid or relying solely on solar energy, computerised electricity systems not only monitor the electricity a home is using at any given time, but also how much each individual outlet is using. Lighting can make up 10-20% of the total electrical usage of the home.  Installing an automatic dimmer, which adjusts to the home owner’s needs based on time of day or occupancy, will lower electricity bills and increase the life expectancy of light bulbs. Energy saving light bulbs are also great bits...
